Solidarity with Palestine

Thank you everyone for coming along to the talks at the Sub Rooms today. There was a great and socially distanced turnout of around 40-50 people, with strong representation from Labour, Green, XR and other activists. Solidarity is strength.

I'd like to give thanks to the other speakers today, notably Cassius Smith-Frazer, Jeremy Green, Stuart Butler and Skeena Rathor.

A few people have asked to see a copy of my speech from this morning. It's not quite as exciting on paper but here you go.

FREE FREE PALESTINE

Today is the 73rd anniversary of the beginning of the Nakba, the "Catastrophe," the great displacement that sent SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND Palestinians fleeing from their homes with little more than the clothes on their backs.

I have here in my hand a Palestinian front door key. Keys are deeply important to Palestinian refugees as they are a symbol of the right to return, enshrined in United Nations law in 1948.

This key will open a door in Palestine that has been occupied for 70 years.

Let me tell you about Gaza. Gaza is on fire. I have a friend in Gaza and he tells me he has given up all hope and is now "waiting for the bombs to drop."

So why are we here?

What are you all going to do about it?

There is only one thing that can bring an end to the oppression of the Palestinian people. The same thing that put an end to South African apartheid can and will end apartheid in Israel/Palestine.

You know what to do. Go look it up.
